Newborn bodysuits: the Jacadi collection
What size bodysuit for a newborn?
Newborn bodysuits are particularly useful clothing items for the first few weeks of a baby's life (and even after). Practical and comfortable, they allow the baby to be at ease throughout the day and night. In terms of size, newborn bodysuits (50 cm) are suitable for babies weighing 3 to 3.5 kg.
If in doubt, also plan for the next two sizes up: 54 cm for 4 kg babies (0-1 month) and 60 cm for 5 to 6 kg babies (3 months). Indeed, newborns grow very quickly, and some, larger than average, may even wear 3-month size from birth. This way, both you and your baby won't be caught off guard!
Looking for a baby girl bodysuit or a baby boy bodysuit that is both elegant and sustainable? Make your selection from the Jacadi collection. This newborn garment comes in a multitude of styles and colours, to the delight of both baby and parents. Liberty print collar, Claudine collar or short ruffled sleeves for girls, polo-style collar for boys... there is a look for everyone. Thanks to their careful details, Jacadi's girl and boy bodysuits easily match everyday outfits and add an extra chic touch. Expecting a child among your loved ones? A baby bodysuit is undoubtedly a wonderful birth gift idea.
How to dress a baby in July?
Summer temperatures have arrived, and baby is about to show its little face. In these conditions, a question naturally arises for all expectant mothers: how to dress baby so they are neither too hot nor too cold?
Ideally, have on hand, from the beginning, the essential basics:
- Newborn bodysuits with long sleeves, short sleeves and sleeveless;
- Cotton and velvet(warmer) pyjamas;
- Newborn hats;
- Wool sweater + trousers sets;
- Pairs of socks or slippers;
- Pairs of mittens.
This way, you can adapt the baby's outfits according to the outside temperatures and the thermal performance of your home once you return.
To check if the baby is not too covered, remember to place your hand on their neck. If there is moisture, they will probably be more comfortable with one less layer.
When to stop using bodysuits?
Newborn bodysuits, designed as their name suggests for newborns, gradually give way to larger size bodysuits (from size 1 month up to size 36 months/3 years).
The main advantage of this garment is to hold the nappy in place and facilitate changing. Indeed, thanks to its snap buttons at the crotch, you don't have to undress the baby completely. The bodysuit thus loses its interest once the baby is clean or about to be, between 2 and 3 years old. This is the right time to stop making them wear it.
Which bodysuit for a newborn?
You can choose between the American neckline bodysuit and the crossover bodysuit. For a newborn bodysuit, it is best to choose a crossover model. This way, you avoid passing the garment over your baby's fragile head, at least for the first few days. Choose a bodysuit with a Liberty print collar for your baby girl or polo bodysuits for your baby boy.
The crossover bodysuit has the particularity of also opening at the front, thanks to a few additional snap buttons. In contrast, the American neckline bodysuit only opens at the crotch. It requires more handling and is therefore more suitable for babies after 3 months.
